Private Mortgage Insurance As Reported to MICA:
Reporting Market Share
The Mortgage Insurance Companies of America (MICA) requires mortgage insurance companies to report their activity each year. MortgageDataWeb makes use of this data supplied by private mortgage insurance companies to provide market share information by State, County, and by Metro Area. Reports on leading mortgage insurance companies and markets are also available.

Our dynamic MICA data selection enables you to select market information multiple ways giving market information on the types of lenders, the types of mortgages, and the purposes of mortgages that are of interest. Selection items include:

  • Loan Type: Select Conventional or Conventional Jumbo Mortgages that were insured
  • Loan Purpose: Select Combinations of mortgages for purchase money and refinance mortgages that were insured.

The data from MICA is provided by the Federal Reserve once per year describing the Insurance Application registers of the private mortgage insurance institutions for the prior year.  This data is usually made available in August of each year, and we publish it here by September.

For each institution, MortgageDataWeb also provides a profile showing their activity in each market across the county.

MortgageDataWeb can also provide special customization of reports for you using MICA data. This can include breakdowns by ethnicity, owner occupancy, income and other data.
